E-Academy Integrates National Student Clearinghouse's EnrollmentVerify
Into Its ELMS License Management System
Enables Nation's Leading Software Distributor to Higher Education to
Instantly Verify the Eligibility of Students Purchasing Discounted Software
HERNDON, VA, January 15, 2004 - The National Student Clearinghouse, the
nation's largest and most trusted source for post-secondary student degree and
enrollment verification, today announced that e-academy, Inc., the leading
provider of digital content management and software distribution solutions to
higher education, has integrated the Clearinghouse's EnrollmentVerify service
into its e-academy License Management System (ELMS). Colleges and universities
can use ELMS to provide substantial discounts on software products from major
software publishers, including Microsoft, to their students online.
Because software distribution is restricted to eligible students,
educational institutions are required to verify enrollment before students
can purchase software. Through EnrollmentVerify, the leading online
enrollment verification service in the US, a student's enrollment is
instantly verified during an online ordering session allowing him/her to
immediately purchase discounted software.
More than 2,700 US colleges and universities -- representing 91% of the
nation's enrollment -- outsource their enrollment verification to the
Clearinghouse. e-academy uses EnrollmentVerify's Web services delivery
option to integrate real-time enrollment information directly into ELMS.
This makes enrollment verification invisible to students and removes the
administrative burden of enrollment verification from the institution. The
integration of EnrollmentVerify with ELMS became live in August 2003 and is
being used by several institutions in the California Community College
System.
"The Clearinghouse is a pioneer in using state-of-the-art
technologies, such as Web services, to maximize the service we provide to
college registrars," said Daniel R. Boehmer, president of the National
Student Clearinghouse, "In addition, we seek out partnerships, such as
this one with e-academy, that allows institutions that participate in the
Clearinghouse to provide significant new benefits, like discounted software
via ELMS, to their students."
