National Student Clearinghouse President, Daniel Boehmer, Announces Plan
To Retire
HERNDON, VA, June 15, 2007 - Daniel R. Boehmer, president of the National
Student Clearinghouse, has announced his plan to retire at the end of 2007.
Boehmer announced his decision at the Clearinghouse's annual board meeting
that was held last week. Boehmer has served as the Clearinghouse's president
since it was founded in 1993.
"Dan has played a pivotal role in the success of the
Clearinghouse," said Clearinghouse Board Chairman Dr. Keith Jepsen.
"Nearly 15 years ago, before the Clearinghouse, student enrollment and
academic verifications were time-consuming, manual processes. Under Dan's
leadership, the Clearinghouse developed a fully automated system that has
yielded tremendous benefits and service improvements for the nation's
colleges, students, student aid providers, and many others. Although we are
saddened by his leaving, we are grateful for his many years of hard work and
dedication."
The Clearinghouse, a non-profit organization, is the leading provider of
educational reporting, verification and research on behalf of its
participating institutions. The Clearinghouse serves the nation's colleges
and high schools, student lending community, federal government, state and
other educational agencies, students and alumni, and thousands of employers
and other organizations. More than 3,000 colleges and universities,
enrolling more than 91% of U.S. college students, and hundreds of high
school districts participate in the Clearinghouse.
"My long career at the Clearinghouse has been extremely rewarding. I
appreciate the unique opportunities that it has afforded me to make
significant contributions, along with my fellow Clearinghouse employees and
our higher education partners, to the nation's higher education system and
the students and alumni that it serves," said Boehmer. "I have
complete confidence in the Clearinghouse's board, its management team, and
staff. I know that under their stewardship the Clearinghouse will continue
to fulfill its mission of providing high quality service and support to our
higher education partners and customers."
An executive search committee, led by Dr. Jepsen, has been established by
the Clearinghouse's board. The committee has retained the firm Spencer
Stuart to assist in the recruitment of the Clearinghouse's next president.
