Approved By JCAHO & NCQA
Both the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO) and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) have
approved the National Student Clearinghouse to serve as an agent for
colleges and universities participating in DegreeVerify, enabling them to
use us as a primary source for academic credential verification.
- The National Student Clearinghouse has been approved by the Joint
Commission for use in credentialing medical staff at JCAHO organizations
(see page five of the January 2003 Joint Commission Perspectives, which
recognizes the Clearinghouse by name).
This is officially noted in the changes to MS.5.4.3.1 through
MS.5.4.3.2 published in Update 1 of the 2003 Comprehensive Accreditation
Manual for Hospitals: The Official Handbook, which states: "A
primary source may designate another organization as its agent in
providing information to verify credentials. The hospital can use this
organization as a designated equivalent source."
- NCQA Credentialing: An organization may verify credentials through an
agent (the National Student Clearinghouse) that contracts with approved
sources to provide requested credentialing information.
You may be asked by NCQA to provide documentation indicating that a
contractual relationship exists between the Clearinghouse and all
DegreeVerify school participants. Such documentation is available to
DegreeVerify corporate account members upon request. Please contact the
Clearinghouse at degreeverify@studentclearinghouse.org.
